Who is Stalking You On Facebook

Who Is Stalking You On Facebook | Over the past few weeks a lot of my students insisted they know 'a method' to see who looked at your facebook profile the most. Typically I don't care about such 'myths' but since it didn't pass away and students didn't believe my 'that's impossible to work' here a short article about it and the reason why it will not work.

Who Is Stalking You On Facebook

The idea: Learn your facebook ID (if you do not know ways to do that, google it. Easy as 1,2,3), navigate to your profile through your very own ID, best click, open source code and then see your 'stalker'.

Here are some screenshots that show how it must work.

1.) Browse to your profile by means of your ID, ideal click and see page source.

2.) Browse for the entry 'friendslist' in the source code.

And here the reason this DOES NOT WORK!

1.) Friends and the private information Facebook collects from them and you is their biggest excellent. They would NEVER EVER make it accesible and easy to discover. If you can find it out like this, everyone else might find it out too. Just think of the problems this might cause. That's something Facebook would never ever wish to happen due to the fact that they would get into lots of problem.

2.) This part of the source code does show some type of a list, true. But it is rather most likely that it reveals the pals you are more than likely to interact with. As you may now Facebook ranks your pals and the news you see and on wich position your good friends appear on your interaction with them. So if you are most likely to connect with a friend (say it's your sis or somebody you utilized to speak to a lot over the past couple of days) this good friend will make it to the top of the list. It is NOT the individual who visited your profile the last.

3.) If you don't think me, believe some of the other geeks and Facebook addicts out there. Example: http://stackoverflow.com/questions/13789565/what-is-the-significance-of-orderedfriendslistinitialdata.

Hope that assists and the misconception of 'I know who visited my profile last/ most' will lastly die.

Ways You Can Block A Facebook Stalker

1. Via Your Block Lists

You can block both individuals and applications.

In Facebook, go to > Account > Personal privacy Settings and find the product called > Block Notes at the bottom of the page. Click the > Edit your lists connect to proceed.

On the following page you can go into Facebook users by name and e-mail address and obstruct them.

If there are several people with the very same name, you will see a list of matching profiles. Click the > Block button next to the individual you were searching for.

2. Via Their Profile.

On each Facebook user profile there is a > Report/Block this Individual link at the bottom left. Click this link and a window will appear that enables you to make a choice.

For example, you might report the person for > Undesirable contact and check package to > Block this individual. If you go with the block, the name will appear in your Block Notes, as described above.

3. Via Their Messages.

If the individual you wish to block has actually sent you any messages, you can block them by clicking the > Report link beside their name and the date the message was gotten. To see the link you must open the message. As soon as you click it, a window with further alternatives will turn up.

Note that no one you block will be notified of the action. However, if they are on your friend list, they will be removed and your profile will not be visible to them. Similarly, you will not be able to view their profile. You both will be invisible to each other, with the exception of 3rd party applications.

If you inadvertently obstructed somebody, you can easily eliminate the block. Go to your Block Lists and click the > Unblock link next to the individual's name. You will be asked to verify. Unblocking an individual will not bring back a previous connection.

4. Remove Your Basic Directory Site Details.

If you have a severe stalker, chances are they will just set up a new Facebook account once you block them. In this case you need to consider making your profile private, so that complete strangers can not discover and pester you.

The first thing you ought to do, is get rid of as much of yourself as possible from the > Basic Directory Information. Go to > Account > Privacy Settings and click on > View Settings.

On the following page you can specify who can search and discover you on Facebook, send out buddy demands or messages, see your good friend list, and more. For each item select thoroughly from the following alternatives: Everyone, Friends of Buddies, or Buddies Just.

Sadly, you can not totally conceal yourself. Facebook states that "your name, profile image, gender, and network are constantly open up to everybody." This discusses why.

5. Tighten Your Privacy Settings.

Besides restricting basic directory info, you need to likewise limit who can see the things you are sharing. Go back to > Account > Personal privacy Settings and click the > Customize settings to change your > Sharing on Facebook choices. You can also pick from a default setting.

A brand-new page with a list of alternatives will open. Go through all the points and decide who you want to see your posts, your individual details, or things others share with you. You can pick from Everyone, Pals of Friends, Friends Only, or Personalize each point and make the details visible to only yourself or hide it from particular people.

Conclusion.

It goes without saying that Facebook is just one medium through which an individual can stalk you. No matter how tight your privacy settings or how reliable individuals on your buddy list are, somebody determined to discover and bug you still has the rest of the web at their disposal. Make certain to treat your individual information, your contact information, and your online privacy in general like a raw egg.
